Abstract

A new learning model that has attracted the attention of Indonesian people is OpenCourse Ware (OCW). This study discusses the concept of OCW as an alternative means of delivering educational services to improve and broaden innovative distance education in Indonesia. It first reviews the underlying philosophy of OCW, followed by its history in the Indonesian education system. It then outlines some recently arisen barriers that inhibit the implementation of OCW. Finally, the study outlines some opportunities provided by OCW in supporting enhanced learning in Indonesia.
